General
With the help of chemical analysis, it is possible to identify and quantify chemical constituents (elements) in a substance. In our case, the method of optical emission spectrometry (OES) is used for quantitative analysis, ie. determining the content of basic elements in various metallic materials.
The spectrometer, which is available at the laboratory, enables quick analysis of all major alloying elements and recognition of extremely low levels of elements in metals, as well as nitrogen in steel. The analysis can be performed on a sample having a flat surface of at least 5 mm in diameter, but it can also be performed on round wires with a diameter of only a few millimetres.
